Hey!
Since I learned that the OSSC Pro with the Extra AV Out Extension can output VGA and HDMI simultaneously, I had the idea to connect it first per VGA to Scart to my CRT and use the other Scart plug on my tv to connect the HDMI-Out over composite (OSSC Pro >> HDMI cable >> Composite converter >> composite cable >> Scart adapter) to basicly get a true analog „composite shader“ when using Retroarch for PSX, Saturn (and below) emulation.
Since the OSSC Pro can‘t output composite natively (right?), I bought this converter by Tendak.
Problem is, it only outputs 480i. Amazon didnt specify that fact. -_-
So I tried to find converter that also support 240p but my search turned up nothing so far.
Do you guys have a recommendation for another converter or a different solution to this problem?
PS: For anyone wondering, those scaling artefacts and shimmering I was complaining about in my other thread, after two months trial and error I figured out it was my own fault because I tried to get rid of overscan by adjusting the advanced timings on my first day. After resetting everything to factory settings the picture is completely fine.

April 14, 2026 at 10:22 PM #69175OOooooh, and the new version features two outputs side by side, composite on top of the regular VGA output? Or is it composite compatible over VGA?

April 27, 2026 at 9:48 PM #69302When populated with optional parts, it additionally supports cvbs and s-video. VGA should not be connected simultaneously, however, to avoid double termination. PAL50, PAL60 and NTSC support has been verified with both interlace and non-interlace modes.

May 11, 2026 at 10:06 AM #69396Hey thanks for the replies. I wanted to reply more extensively, so that took a while longer than I had planned.
As a first time buyer, the new version would have been great, but since I already got the current extension and the new one doesn’t support two simultaneous connections I’m still thinking of how to realize my initial idea that would allow me to switch channels via remote instead of cumbersomely changing cables on the OSSC Pro in my cabinet each time.
I have since found the following few alternatives:
https://antoniovillena.com/product/mikes1-vga-composite-adapter/
https://www.ebay.com/itm/174578156353
https://www.axunworks.com/product-p341706.html
https://www.retroupgrades.co.uk/product/vga2ntsc-converter/
Would these work and support my idea of a simultaneous connection with 240p capabilities? Or are there advantages to the new AV Extension that I am overlooking?
Bob from RetroRGB mentions on his channel in this short…
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/KA1j-oMZaYA
…that he is able to change the connection quality with this Scart cable to composite. Would this be possible on the new Extra AV extension and I’d only need a VGA to Scart cable that syncs on composite? Or do you need a special TV that supports realtime switching?
May 14, 2026 at 9:23 AM #69430There is now plan to include support for simulataneous RGBS output via VGA as apparently there is interest for such.
May 14, 2026 at 11:16 AM #69432Oiii, wow! Thanks for supporting that on such last notice. Sounds like it‘s going go be the ideal hardware for my idea then. Can‘t wait 🙂
May 16, 2026 at 10:57 AM #69461It’d be really useful to have an option for Y/C output but that’d mean losing my composite input on the expansion input board, any way to feed composite in via any of the other inputs? It’s important for me to retain my input for Lumacode from my NES 🙂
