Hi! I’m using an OSSC with firmware 0.88a, Elgato HD60s+ and a Lotharek Hydra2 Scart splitter. For some reason I’m getting a lot of audio clipping with my N64 – this is when using a RGC Universal Nintendo cable as well. I tried to adjust Pre-ADC gain all the way down to -12dB, but I’m still having the same issue.

Never noticed that on my own N64, what kind of N64 RGB mod is it?

It’s a French PAL N64 – so it only needed the amp mod. I believe mine is using this one.

and by “clipping” you mean the music is over-loud in some parts?

Exactly. The game volume being loud to a point of crackling and distorting. I got a suggestion to buy an inline audio attenuator and a breakout scart adapter. This way I’m able to get the analog signal and quiet it down a bit before it hits my capture card. The Elgato has an analog input option for audio, which I’m able to use with this setup. I should be getting the attenuator quite soon, hopefully it solves the issue.

Update on this: it was the Hydra – I guess that’s what I get for assuming stuff lol. I already sent a message to Lotharek about this issue, hoping I can solve this somehow.

Another update: I got in touch with Lotharek, the creator of the device. I was suggested to mod my N64 scart cable – adding two 33 ohm resistors before scart pins 2 and 6. I’ll do this in the near future and report back.

interesting, not sure why that would be required unless Hydra is boosting the signal too much.
