The quick start guide for the DExx says that the optional LCD is only 16×2 (NHD-0216CW-AB3) but the Wiki says the 20×2 version is also supported (NHD-0220CW-AB3).

Is this correct that I can use the 20×2 version?

Also, has anybody designed any 3D printable cases for the DExx + DE10-Nano?

Yes that LCD should work just fine (though as far as I know there’s no advantage to doing so as the Dexx will not use the extra space)

I’m not aware of anyone who’s designed a case yet, though that would be pretty cool!

Thanks for the reply.  Are you sure it won’t use the extra space?  Hopefully Marqs can confirm since he mentioned the 16×2 only being used because the 20×2 wasn’t available at the time and that the 16×2 does cut-off some characters due to it being too small.

DExx is largely reusing ossc_pro firmware which assumes 2×20 display so 2×16 display may cut out few last characters in some cases. Depending on which side of DE10-Nano the board is installed, 2×20 display may need to be installed in slight angle (or use longer pin header).

Thanks again for the information. It sounds like you are saying the 20×2 is the better LCD but might not fit correctly with the DE10-Nano attached.

Also, it looks like New Haven discontinued the white color in both the 16×2 and 20×2 versions which is unfortunate.
