      i have a ps2 and component cables.
currently only have a monitor with hdmi that doesnt do interlaced.

i was thinking of getting an OSSC so i can turn it to hdmi, read that the ossc will make it look less crappy.

is the ossc my best choice?

The OSSC deinterlacing is okay, but not fantastic. If money is no object then the Framemeister handles an interlaced signal better.

my budget is around $300. how bad is okay?

i can also get access to a small 4k vizio with component input for cheap, if that helps the ossc

OSSC cannot perform sophisticated deinterlacing as this requires a frame buffer. You must be able to tolerate some image flickering if you use the OSSCs deinterlacer.

I use my OSSC for everything except the PS2. For some reason I don’t mind it’s bob deinterlace for 32bit systems but the extra detail in ps2 games makes it distracting.

I keep an FM around purely for the PS2 and it’s does a great job. The frame of lag and tiny bit of noise are worth the trade of for the image quality IMO.

It’s a PS1 480i title, but covers all line modes available for 480i.
