My monitor has two settings ‘aspect’ and 1:1. The 1:1 just displays whatever resolution you throw at it. Aspect will stretch the image to 16:9.

When I change it to line double setting 3 I get the image above… While it’s serviceable there’s a lot of screen real estate left. When I use line doubler 4 is craps the bed and the screen goes black…

Is there any way I can make the screen bigger at the proper aspect ratio? If not, what are some good monitors that I might be able to get with good upscaling?

That’s unfortunate indeed. Unless there’s some control on your monitor then no, you can’t stretch the output with OSSC.

    Have you tried 5x mode?

In line x3 mode, output is 720p widescreen (4:3 video inside 16:9 frame), so it should work properly on your display with ”aspect” setting.
You may still run into trouble with interlaced video though, as it cannot be converted to 720p.

Yes you’re right I would have expected that to work, although OP seems to say it does not.
