Hi. Exactly what the title says.

I’ve had my OSSC 1.6 since December of 2020. I’ve not had any issues with it until now.

I was using it tonight and the screen/unit froze saying “525p” on the screen, but no image or sound.

I turned the unit off and back on, but it was in the state described in the title.

      Has anyone seen this before?

I ordered a USB Blaster from Amazon.

If I can’t get it going with the USB Blaster, are there any known repair services in the United States?

      Thanks.

        Seems similar:

Finished Building OSSC, Both leds solid color, screen turns on shows nothing

So in your case it may be some bridged pins on U1 or U17 too (U1 gets pretty hot – maybe a tiny solder ball was there and moved thanks to the heat and some flux residue).

          Thanks for the suggestion.

I took the heatsink off and had a look at U1 and then U17 but I didn’t see anything obvious wrong.

The USB Blaster I ordered from Amazon arrived this afternoon.

I was able to successfully flash firmware .87 onto the unit.

After restart it was working again.

I flashed firmware .88 from an SD card and I am back in business. All my settings and profiles were even still there.

I am curious why this happened.

At the time this occurred, I was using the MiSTer FPGA to the OSSC using an HDMI to component adapter.

I had the MiSTer configured with direct_video=1. I am wondering if it did not like the sync signal? My Sony CRT had no issue with it.

I was just fooling around because the Mister component out via the IO board is pretty dark. The brightness isn’t an issue with the OSSC, but on the CRT it is.

          I regret fooling with it.

          Thanks again for the help.

Sounds like the firmware on the flash chip got corrupted somehow, possibly due to a surge.
