      Hello

Just got the OSSC and was very eager to blow the dust off my nes and finally start playing. I played around with the settings but I just couldn’t get the picture to my TV. I was fully aware that the OSSC wouldn’t work with all the tv’s on the market, but I hope that it’s not the case here.

I connected The OSSC through scart in and HDMI out to my tv. The test screen came up. I put the image through AV1 and tried every single setting that I could see in the output settings. All I got was only sound on the background but the image was just black with the OSSC display showing AV1: RGBS 312p, 51.61khz 50.05hz. I connected both my tv and the OSSC, Is there something I could try out within the OSSC settings to get the image? Thanks.

Composite video is not supported on the OSSC. You need something that outputs RGB so you will need to mod your NES or buy a French NES or something that can convert composite to RGB like a dvd recorder. The RGB mod is the only thing which will provide decent quality RGB output.

Composite to scart isn’t supported either?

Also I get no image through pal Snes either and that’s a rgb if I’m not totally wrong.

Composite is composite, connector is irrelevant. And most likely your Snes cable is also composite, or if not then faulty.

Okay thanks for making that totally clear to me. I’m a bit noob in these sides of things. Well time to go spend some more money then I guess lol.

If you want to test your TV if it will work with the NES/SNES + OSSC you can connect the yellow composite video to the green AV2 connector. It will be in black and white but at least you will see something.

If you are going to buy a SNES RGB cable then I recommend to buy a luma sync cable like this one: https://www.retrogamingcables.co.uk/nintendo/super-nintendo/super-nintendo-pal-rgb-av-scart-cable-lead-cord-for-sale

THanks a lot Paulb! I’ll check that asap to see if at least the tv does what it should. I’ll definitely keep my eye on those cables also as I want the best picture as possible.
