      Hello, Looking for a bit of help in figuring out how to repair this.

      A friend of mine brought a sold as faulty OSSC off Ebay about 2 years ago but ultimately never actually had a go at trying to fix it as he ultimately never ended up needing it. But he recently found it in a box while preparing to move to a new flat and gave it to me to see if I could have a go at fixing it as i’m not too bad at repairing electronics so long as it’s not too complex and I at times have some direction to help diagnose the problem which is why i’m here.

      As you may guess we have no history for it other than when plugged in & turned on it displays ‘Init Error -2’.

      There are no obvious signs of damage and the only thing i’ve noticed is that the (I believe TLV70018) regulator labelled U16 is getting very hot after been powered on for a few seconds so i’m thinking this is where I need to start looking. And this is where I need some direction in how to test that, What sort of values I should be getting off the pins & if it would be advisable to de-solder it and then try powering the OSSC on to see if the error goes or if another error or some other behaviour occurs to confirm if that is what needs replacing or not (Something I would be able to do).
