the resolution changes to 525i and the signal drops

When you say the signal drops, does it drop on the OSSC (the LCD display shows no sync or some garbage value) or only on your display?

The signal only disappears on the TV; the OSSC continues to function and display information. The information displayed is: AV1_RGBS 525-i 15.73kHz 59.94Hz

Does this newer firmware work on the Mcbazel OSSC ver 1.6, if it is modded with the wire mod?

A small step forward with my problem: I’ve managed to get the black screen to display something. I had to disable “ultra hd deep color” on my LG UH8500 TV. Now it shows the image, but it’s duplicated in two parts on the screen.

As far as I know nothing was changed with interlace handing lin 1.20, is there a way to tell what signal the TV thinks it is getting?

The information displayed on the screen is limited, but it does say that the image resolution is 1024×490.

Interesting, and you have tried a full settings reset?

Hey, good tip! I applied it in OSSC and it worked. I reset the profile and it fixed it. I think there must be a conflict between the optimal timming profiles for FirebrandX on N64 and this new firmware. I should clarify that I converted them on the website for this new firmware, so I don’t know what the conflict could be, but at least the reset profile worked for me. In case anyone else has the same problem, this is the solution.

Thank you so much for your support, it was truly very helpful.

Update: After turning OSSC off and on again with the default profile, the split-screen issue occurred again. The solution was the same: reset the profile. However, I found that when I re-enabled the shadow mask, the screen went black. Another issue with this strange bug is that when I reset the profile and everything returns to normal, the resolution shows 480p, but in the “line multi-option” menu, trying to change the 480p line doesn’t do anything; it has no effect on any of the options.

Hello, new Member – old OSSC User here.

I never updated my OSSC since I get this nice device and used Firmware 0.86 for many years. Now I have updated to v1.20 and my OSSC stopped working. For every input I can’t get a Sync (just a black screen with the “No Sync” message on the OSSC-Screen). I can’t downgrade to an older firmware as well. I put an older Firmware bin-File in an fw folder on my 16GB SD-Card is used for the upgrade, but my OSSC only says “No fw/*.bin file found”. Any help would be very appreciated. Thank you!

Did you do the hardware modification required for the 1.x branch firmware? You must do this modification if you have an older OSSC (hardware revision 1.7 or earlier). Follow the specific firmware upgrade/downgrade instructions for 1.20 to downgrade (firmware file goes in fw sub-folder on fat32 formatted card).

No – that was my mistake. After the 5th time formatting the SD Card (the mac disk utility software seems not to work properly for fa32 formatting), now with a third party software, i could manage to downgrade to v0.7. Now everything is working fine again. Thank you!

Same problem, I used a folder name fw and that downgraded the firmware but the problem remained even after reverting to original firmware even restored my profiles and no joy blank screen and no Sync on all consoles, anyone else had this problem or found a solution?

Hello, Marqs! I want to say thank you so much for OSSC! The latest updates are particularly pleasing: it is now very convenient to update and upload profiles. I also like the XC-3315C mask – it gives the most uniform image for Genesis.

And I will share my profiles for Genesis, Mega Drive PAL and Dreamcast (for fw v1.20, 1.21):
                              https://disk.yandex.ru/d/MEMFV8CCJ3xwaA

prof00.bin (Default) – default settings OSSC
prof01.bin (MD NTSC 5x) – for NTSC Mega Drive / Genesis
                              prof02.bin (MD320 PAL 3x) – for Mega Drive PAL and games 320x240p
                              prof03.bin (MD256 PAL 3x) – for Mega Drive PAL and games 256x240p
prof04.bin (Dreamcast) – for Dreamcast (VGA)

For Genesis, I managed to make a single Line5x profile for 320p and 256p in 4:3 format – scanlines+mask, correct operation when switching to 480i in Sonic 2 and Combat Cars. Unfortunately, I was unable to find a single 4:3 profile and setup for Line5x for Mega Drive PAL, so there are two separate Line3x profiles for 320p and 256p with simplified scanlines. And for the Dreamcast, I use Line2x and minimalistic scanlines, and I think it looks great)

And some sample images for Genesis)

I have a cheap AliExpress Bitfunx produced OSSC, and the scanline/phase/linemult. buttons never worked on the remote. I flashed 1.20 (then 1.21) and the new shadow mask options with intensity are absolutely great – really taking it up a level. I wanted to understand which remote buttons had become shadow mask controls but no one seems to have yet updated the overlay labels. Consulting the OSSC source code we can see the IR codes here. Shadow mask mode +/- is assigned to the >>| and |<< buttons, and shadow mask intensity to the simple +/- buttons. I then noticed that the shadown mask mode buttons work fine on my remote, despite that the scanline buttons still don’t.

Reading up on the L336 remote, it seems clear that the Bitfunx supplied unit has not been programmed to the full OSSC spec shown here.

All the functions with 0x3E prefixes (Yamaha DVD), including shadow mask mode +/-, work fine but the missing functions have the prefixes 0x1C (Toshiba TV) and
0x5E (Yamaha AV receiver). So it looks like Bitfunx programmed it as a DVD remote only. However, I noticed that all the buttons do send codes (presses are confirmed with the OSSC’s green LED). So by following the wiki instructions to re-bind the remote I was able to get all functions working correctly. Hope this helps people.
