      Hi folks,

I have an LG B6 which works really well with the OSSC. However while X5 mode works, the image aspect ratio isn’t correct. It looks slightly off while still being roughly 4:3.

I’m using the 1600*1200 mode which as far as I know should be correct unlike the 1080p mode.

Does anyone know of a way to tweak the timings to get it correct?

      Thanks

Which system(s) does this occur on?

Are you using advanced timing or the Generic 4:3?

Have you confirmed by measuring with the linearity test on the 240p test suite?

        Can you post a picture?

          It’s via my PS2 playing a PS1 title. Line 3x and 4x look great. Generic 4:3 too.

I will try 240p suite however that’ll be on my gamecube. Will post a pic shortly.

Most older consoles has an aspect ratio slightly narrower than 4:3. E.g. PS1 is 1.219 (if viewing a game that utilizes the full visible space, with no overscan). This would then be cropped by the overscan of the CRT.
If it’s different between x3, x4 & x5 (in 1600×1200), then it’s something with the scaling on your display. Edit: ignore, forgot that x5 uses different base for sampling rate

I think seeing it now adjusting the horizontal sampling rate corrects the ratio for me. Does that sound right to anyone else?

Oh right, x5 doesn’t use the same default horizontal scale. I forgot about that, sorry. Sample rate can be set to 1950 instead, should be more accurate. Or you can keep the sample rate at 2046 and increase h.active to 1678 (if your display allows).

Okay yeah 1950 seems to be bang on aspect ratio wise but now the image is shifted left. I assume I need to adjust horizontal backporch?

Yes, it should be reduced also.

Is there an overlay I could use that would allow me to properly center this picture in OBS? I eyeballed it but I’d like to be accurate since I’m recording for some projects I’m working on. The picture looks great now and I can center it myself, but I don’t want to waste hours recording something and then find out my frame wasn’t centered.

I think the best you could do would be measure it from side to side with a tape measure.

Line 3x and 4x should be exact, so if you make it the same you’re set.
