      Hi All,

I’ve been having issues getting my SNES and N64 connected via my OSSC to the TV. The connection is as follows:

      SNES > SCART > OSSC > HDMI > TV

Sometimes the games will display and Ill be able to play them, other times they won’t display at all and I may get a black screen but no picture. Alternatively sometimes the connection drops out and the TV can’t detect the OSSC at all. I usually start with the OSSC displaying the Grey boxes and then once I power on the SNES/N64, I get either of the aforementioned problems… or it randomly works and I can play.

Couple of key notes to hopefully help diagnose:

      • Both consoles are unmodded and from Japan.
      • Super Famicom model is: ‘SNS-CPU-RGB-01’ (2 Chip)
      • TV is a Samsung, Model: QA55Q60RAW
      • The Scart im using is NTSC. ( SYNC: CSYNC 470Ω )
      • OSSC is running 0.90a + has Firebrands profiles installed (these don’t seem to help/do anything).
      • OSSC Screen shows the following output when screen is black: “| AV1_RGBS | 262-p | 15.74kHz | 60.08Hz |”

I’ve tested a few different carts and I’ve been able to play them when the connection works. So I don’t think the console is faulty, I’m leaning towards the TV or output not working together. Unsure if I need to have modded the consoles with RGB/De-Jitter to fix it? Am I missing a key step here?

I hope you’re able to help me, greatly appreciate any support – Thank you in advance!

Most likely you will need the dejitter installed to make it compatible with OSSC + that particular TV.

With SNES the jitter might be an issue (does the red light blink when losing sync?), but N64 should work fine as-is. Unmodded N64 (aside from some early French units) does not output RGB, though, so I don’t understand how do you get picture out of it. “Full TX Setup” in compatibility opt can help with some very picky TVs so that is one thing to try.

            <p style=”text-align: left;”>Thanks for responding Bucko, Marqs!</p>
I’ve purchased a de-jitter kit to see if that helps with the SNES and I’ll keep you updated.

On the N64, to Marqs point, I’ve decided to install an RGB mod as well to get the RGB output via scart. However I was able to get a janky picture pushing composite through a cheap HDMI scaler.

            Thanks again for responding 🙂
