Hi, is there any tutorial for PC – Windows 98 and MS-DOS?

What monitor display driver to install in Windows 98?

I have Geforce 3 (AGP) and Voodoo 3 (PCI) in one computer. Both work in Windows. But for MS-DOS the Voodoo 3 card randomly looses sync (OSSC led goes red). I tried various settings, but I’m just a beginner. The interesting thing is that it uses 449p mode when computer boots. Everything works and is using 70.08Hz refresh rate. Only when launching MS-DOS game, same 449p resolution and 70Hz, it switch something (some other mode, but it still shows 449p/70.08hz) and Voodoo 3 starts to randomly drop out.

Everything else works fine. BIOS, command line, Windows, MS-DOS. Only when starting game in MS-DOS or Windows 98 that goes to 449p, it starts to randomly cut and loose sync. Geforce 3 on same OS and some motherboard is working fully.

I am having a similar issue, but in Windows 2000. The screen constantly blinks black like its loosing signal or sync? It is only when running 3D games through a Voodoo 3 3000. My green light stays lit green though. Tried many different resolutions. I am using VGA to OSSC to a modern HDMI gaming monitor. Everything looks fine connected to CRT monitor.

Unfortunately we can’t see your OSSC during this video so it’s very hard to say where or what is causing the issue.

It is the same issue as I had and I shared the settings in the first post.

The green light stays on the whole time. Multiple TVs all act the same.

OP says his OSSC loses sync so we could be looking at two separate issues. It would have been very useful to have seen the LCD to see what that said too.

I think it might depend on the timing. If the screen goes off only for a short while, OSSC led would stay green. If it looses sync for a longer time, it would go red.

Anyway the symptoms are the same:
screen going blank and GPU is the same.

I’m waiting for more than 1 year here 😀 and nobody did notice me.

Theoretically, if this would be two issues, it would be satisfying for me if at least one of them would be solved by this time.

Don’t ask me for more info now, because my OSSC is not starting up and it has been only collecting dust for last 6 months. I solved this by buying EIZO CRT 19” (up to 160Hz) and Sony PVM 21”. OSSC is not working correctly for VGA (some missing modelines or issue with frequency fluctuations?) and for HDMI component adapter, I bought cheap 50 Eur good quality adapter on Amazon.de to convert Playstation 4 to RCA component for Sony PVM to make it retro :-> (I went the other way)

One potential issue with VGA input is that the ADC chip is quite picky about the alignment of hsync and vsync signals which ideally should not be affected by video mode, but in practice can be. OSSC board has a RC low-pass filter to add some margin between leading edges of these signals, but in some cases the delay might not be sufficient. One thing to try would be exchanging R12 (close to VGA connector) with a larger value resistor, e.g. 330ohm. Another thing to test is increasing “Hsync tolerance” under sync opt.

Could using an external sync combiner and connecting into AV1 also be worth trying?

FYI, I returned my OSSC. It was a Kaico edition from Amazon. I bought one from Videogameperection and it works perfectly.

Hmm, I’d love to say “told you so ours are better” but honestly the Kaico one should perform the same in that regard.

A new beta firmware is available which could help here. Discussion on that is found in this thread.
