For some reason, I’m getting this weird effect around a lot of object when I use my Wii + HD Retrovision Cables + OSSC  combo. I’m also using USB Loader GX with my games to load them in the correct internal resolution and to turn off the annoying deflicker filter (it’s on “Off (Extended)”). It’s like this weird extra layer of slightly transparent anti-aliasing (it probably has a name but that’s the best way I can describe it). I’ve been trying to fix it for months, but to no avail. Anyone know what’s going on here? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I’ll send a screenshot tomorrow. I’m not on my computer currently

Nevermind, I have one. Look at the edges of this platform here.

If the bleeding is only to the right, then it’s indicating either a bad cable or bad video output. Wii is not known for very good component output.

The bleeding is on both sides. Here’s another example. Is it an OSSC issue or something? I’m using 720 for my H.active and my Horizontal Sample Rate is 858.

GameCube and Wii both have a lowpass filter on their output. It’s probably a (5-tap?) FIR filter in the video encoder followed by an analog lowpass filter after the DAC.

Technically, when sampling at optimized modes it should be possible to reduce the artifacting with another multitap FIR filter. It would be nice if that could be added to the OSSC Pro. The original Xbox consoles also could make use of that.

So, is it an issue with my OSSC’s LPF?

Does anybody have a solution to this? I still haven’t figured it out. To be frank, I’ll most likely just end up buying the latest Wii HDMI mod by Arthrimus instead of trying to use my Wii with my OSSC. It just does not want to work no matter what I do.
