      Hello,

      I’ve a PAL GC just for GBIHF use. The default output tells me that this could be pretty brilliant with some optimal settings. The usual values I’d try aren’t doing it for this output type (HD60?). It sort of looks like a N64 in 256×240 mode, pixels are squeezed and giving a blurry effect, but only on part of the screen.

      What settings do people here use ?

      Thanks,

      Jon

        As the GBI wiki states, you either set hd60 and change nothing on OSSC (except which linemode to use ofc, 2x for 720p or 3x for 1080p), or you set hdcustom and adjust samplerate to 302.

        HDcustom is better in my opinion because it introduces far fewer duplicate frames (framerate is very close to the GBA output), but it is also slightly less compatible since it’s not straight 60Hz.

          What is the difference between “HD60” and “HDCustom” ? I’m trying to read the documentation but the –format options is only described as “Set video format”.

            HD60 = exact 60Hz output
            HDcustom = 59.7ish Hz (close to, but not quite exact GBA refresh rate)

            Note that in both cases the GBP itself runs at it’s native rate. That’s why there’s much less stutter with HDcustom.

              Thanks!

              Is it possible to have the GBP output its native rate? It sounds like HDcustom is close but still not the same rate?

                Yes, but AFAIK only with 240p output. Set format to custom or custom-m (I forget which and can’t test right now, pretty sure it’s custom-m), scan mode non-interlace. IIRC exact sample rate is 433 for this mode (if you want to use 320×240 optimized mode).

                BTW if you wanna zoom in on the image in the above mode, reduce H.active to 240, V.Active to 180.

                I suppose this exact refresh not being achievable in HD mode has to do with some limitations in setting the pixelclock for the HD mode.
