Hello everybody,
My first message here but I have been a long-time lurker. Thank you for the wealth of information that is available in here, it has helped me a lot, numerous times.
A few hours ago I completed the mod on my OSSC 1.6 (the laser orange transparent kind) and it works BUT, I pulled a bit of the trace from the R35 spot that I was supposed to solder on. Right now my wire is connected to the lifted trace (about 2 mm :)) and is going to U1.
I was able to:
– Update the firmware via SD image (1.08)
– See the test pattern
– See my AV1 Scart input from my Amiga 1200 to my Dell 2007fpb TFT monitor.
I suppose that’s good, but that lifted trace is keeping me on my toes… but I fear that going from U1 directly to pin 46 of U2 (EP4CE15E22 / Cyclone IV FPGA) is never going to be any easier for me, with a normal soldering iron. I am not sure I have thin enough wires for that. Soldering to R35 is definitely easier. I’ll see if it works (sync was good on the Amiga in 288p) and then take it from there, I can afford keeping the OSSC “open” without the top case and at least check basic functionality, before I completely melt it 🙂
I am not sure how many people are reporting on beta 1.xx with Amiga computers, I’ll be happy to add my experience (I’ve been using an OSSC 1.6 with my A1200 since end of 2021).
Many thanks for this amazing opportunity!
