      Hello.

It turns out it is just my TV’s incompatibility. It’s cheap and quite old so it makes sense that it would suck on pretty much every mode. But I can live with it until I can upgrade the TV.

Tried OSSC on my computers 16/10 monitor with 1:1 pixel mapping on and the OSSC works flawlessly in every mode.

Images are X5 mode with scanlines on full. Dell U2410F monitor. Horizontal lines are all perfectly uniform.

        Hello.

Genuine PAL Mega Drive 1601-05 is running at 49.69Hz
Genuine NTSC-J Mega Drive HAA-2510 is running at 59.91Hz

What frequency does OSSC report on the screen when in pal and ntsc modes? Could check my genuine NTSC-J and my genuine PAL. Which matches should be the real region. Pick a game that you can test and I will use the same game.

Hello. Could I please get some info on this. Close to buying a Hydra but unfortunately I bought all CSYNC cables from RGC, just because I was relatively ignorant about the subject.

Bucko51 do you have CSYNC cables that you tried with Hydra and was there any issues?

            Cheers

I can confirm that the update has fixed the digital noise on my VA1 NTSC-J Mega Drive. So cheers to the devs.

I believe in some cases the digital noise might be masked by the console’s distortion, so some people may be unaware it exists at all. If you know what you are listening for it is obvious though. Especially when in my case the noise was not perfectly uniform across the stereo as per one of the audio examples pages back.

The update has cleared the noise up completely so now I only hear the true distortion generated within the Mega Drive itself but only on some games. But this distortion is noise free now.

If anyone needs a good example of a loud, distorted game for testing their audio mods I suggest ‘Rolo To The Rescue’. It is a very loud game. The most distorted I have come across so far.

This has fixed the odd digital noise for me. VA1 NTSC-J Mega Drive. Thanks

The noise in question this thread is about is digital noise. We should keep it about that. The problem with overly loud sound and amp distortion is something else.

The noise i describe sounds like digital conversion errors.

If there is inherent distortion coming from the megadrive as part of the console’s crap design, it needs to be represented accurately by the OSSC. Which it isn’t at the moment.

Overly loud and distorted megadrives is a common problem which i don’t think is the responsibility of OSSC designers.

Accurate ADC conversion is, warts and all.

Looking forward to the firmware to see if it fixes the digital chirping and artefacts.

That’s awesome. So does this mean it can be done with firmware only?

                      That’s awesome. Cheers.

Just wondering. Are you involved officially with OSSC?

Does anyone have a real solution to this problem? It must be a widespread problem since headphone out scart cables are pretty much the de-facto standard.

“try adding a simple lpf filter or just a load resistor on the scart block” How is this achieved?
“add the antialias filter on ossc board” How is this achieved?
“I tapped the Mega Drive’s audio before the amp and routed it to the headphone jack” How is this achieved?

These are not really solutions or understandable for people that are not electronics experts. Are any of these guaranteed to fix the audio?

Would the MegaAmp2 and a mini jack line out on the rear of the console fix this problem?

                        Thanks

                          Hello.

I experience the same issue. Digital artifacts/distortion (high pitch chirping) of the audio signal.

Scart to TV is fine. Scart to OSSC is horrible.

This is disappointing since this is my most used console.
