I’ve switched the monitor (another PC HDMI 1080 screen) and I’ve gotten some good results. Now whenever I power on everything at the exact same time, or turn on the Retrotink Mini last, it works fine. The screen is centered and stays this way even after loading different screens or levels in a game. It even seems I can turn of the console and put in another game while keeping the correct centering.
When I plug everything in and turn on the console last, it’s not centered. So somehow it seems as if it has something to do with the sequence I put through signals to the Retrotink. The monitor I initially tried may have had some downtime or signal loss in between screens.
I’m not sure if this is how the Retrotink Mini should function, but it’s workable now (as long as I use the correct sequence of turning devices on).
After some more fiddling around I noticed that pulling the power plug from the Retrotink and putting it back afterwards (while both the screen and console are running) does actually work. But it’s not permanent, as soon as I switch a level (trying this with THPS 2 on N64) the screen is off centered again.
All consoles I use are PAL (and games also).
Power Cycling the screen or the Retrotink doesn’t seem to fix it. Sometimes, like 1 in 20 times, rebooting the console seems to give the correct output.
