Yeah, I think part of the problem is TVs tend to accept various signals a bit differently than others. For example, I have a 3D TV that is 1080p. So will probably accept some signaling that some of the newer 4k ones will not. At least it supports a 1:1 ratio, for older consoles, that’s glorious!
But yeah, that’s basically what I did, tweaked backporch and synclean until it was centered up/down as best it could be. I think I probably stretched mine out, because I’m sure the 640×400 is supposed to have black bars on the side larger than what they are.
Damnit, sorry I thought I replied to this, but it was on my phone…
So I used the above suggestions with H.Active, but in the same area under advance settings I changed the H and V Synclean and Backporch to move the screen up / down and left / right.
I saved out the profile, is there any way to export those and upload them?
Edit: and of course the Allow Upscale 2x was turned ‘on’ to get rid of the vertical lines.
So for the lines, they pretty much disappeared after I switched on ‘Allow upscale 2x’
Then after tweaking around with other settings, we have success! You can’t see it with the lights off, but there is about .5 inches on each side that are black that I couldn’t quite get rid of, but I’m sure if I tried harder… but there you have it, 55″ LCD TV with Atari ST in Hi-Res through VGA.
Here’s some tests with my 1040STe.
All of these are through VGA (since I don’t know how to get to high resolution through the SCART)
First picture is with the Best Electronics cable to VGA to OSSC;
Second Picture is with the Ube Switch; http://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?t=30521
Notice that the second picture (while still having lines through it) is much clearer. Not sure if this is because it’s just this tiny box between it and the OSSC, and the other one has a female VGA end so it needs a VGA cable in between or the OSSC is just that nice?
Both of them look to need to be adjusted, the lines usually represent the hsync/vsync being off a bit. I noticed there are settings in OSSC for this, but I didn’t spend much time yet figuring them out.
Last image is the frequencies that are being used.
Does someone make a SCART for the ST that will flip to Hi-Res mode?
Looking forward to the VBXE w/SCART pictures! I have to look again at which pin I need to wire up, shouldn’t be too hard for me to do, just haven’t done it and wanted to make sure it worked.
Replace the batteries with some fresh ones. Seems to be the fix.
Looks like it’s a separate sync, since from what I could find, it looks like the Atari ST’s Composite Sync is on the second pin.

Composite Sync isn’t connected on the 8bit, so I’m guess that’s probably the issue.
The SCART cable is working fine for the Atari ST.
This first image is using the same cable combination as the first picture in the first post
This is using the SCART cable on the Atari STe.
From what I looked on the pin configuration of both the VBXE and the 1040STe, they should be pretty much the same, I think some of the audio isn’t connected, and the monochrome / high resolution pin, though even that I think works because on the 8-bit it actually makes it go black and white, which I did not expect to happen.
I just updated to firmware 0.79a as well. I haven’t tried the 8-bit since, but the output looks the same on the STe.
These images do go with what you said about AV3, does look like it’s caused do to a filter missing.
It IS indeed the batteries. Fully charged batteries and the remote works perfectly!
So before you start sending out new remotes to everyone, tell them to make sure they have fresh batteries!
Quick note, to be fair, I think the color is correct on the OSSC over the GBS for those two screenshots.
I had rechargeable batteries in mine, I’m doing a full charge on them then I’ll test it again while waiting for the other remote to arrive. Hopefully I have good luck!
I apologize for not replying sooner. I only got my OSSC on Friday of last week, and tried out the remote the other day when I was trying to update the firmware. I’d tested the OSSC with my VBXE upgraded Atari 130XE and the output had a bunch of lines in it, so I figured I’d make sure I had the latest firmware before I tried anything else, had to get a new SD card because my testing one decided to break.
Light flashes on the remote, not on the OSSC.
I guess I’m in the same boat here. Was going to update the firmware to the 0.79, and it seems the Remote will flash the light, but no changes on the OSSC.
I attempted to hold down the TV button as was suggested, but that just makes it go solid (I’m guessing to start programming it?) Also went into where it asks to ‘Press 1’ and got no response. Makes one wonder if there is something passing through customs that wipes the config.
