Unfortunately I don´t have any other possibility to test this.
However I´m using the same monitor to connect my C64 using OSSC + Koryuu and here I don´t have the problem of too dark picture.
So I´d rule out the monitor at least.
Is there any OSSC setting/parameter that you could perhaps recommend to twiddle around with? I´m using the Passthru mode.
I´ve just updated firmware to 1.10, but no difference.
Once more many thanks for the S-video cable link. I received it in the meantime and it works perfectly. The picture I get when connecting C64 via this cable to the S-video input of Koryuu and the Koryoo via 3 cinch cables to the OSSC is crystal clear.
However I noticed that I´m missing the sound since of course S-video does not deliver audio.
So I also ordered a cinch to 3,5mm audio cable (like https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00HJUD7H2) to connect the two audio lines coming from C64 through the cable recommended above into the 3.5mm AV2 audio in socket from OSSC.
With this I hopefully should have everything in place to finally be able to play games on the original C64 on a modern monitor with sound.
All the additional hardware cost most likely as much as the C64, but it was worth the ride and I learned a lot about S-video, the video format of C64 etc.
Thanks again for the help and I hope my hints above might help another newbie/oldie… 🙂
Best regards,
Tobias
Hi,
sorry, it took me a while to buy a smaller card.
That actually solved the problem: I bought a 4GB card and the update to 1.09 worked like a charm. Perhaps worth to write this as a statement into the firmware update procedure since the “usual” cards that everybody has around are getting bigger these days.
Thanks a lot for your support!
Tobias
Hi,
thanks for the fast response. I´m located in Germany.
I´ve placed the order at the UK seller that you provided.
Thanks again and hope to be able to play some old classics soon again on the original hardware. 🙂
Best regards,
Tobias
Hi all,
I just bought the OSSC and Koryuu to get my C64 connected to a modern LCD monitor.
What I´m wondering is how you get the C64 connected to Koryuu? I was trying to find a 8pin DIN to S-video cable but couldn´t find any.
Are all of you technically so experienced that you solder and build your own cables or does anyone have a link where I could buy one?
Best regards,
Tobias
Hi,
I´ve ordered OSSC from the official website (https://videogameperfection.com/products/open-source-scan-converter/?sld=retrorgb)
Best regards,
