So i found out the issue I have been having, even though PAL games output at 288p i had assumed they all had an internal render the same as the NTSC version of 240p and just left the rest as black space, the notorious pal borders.

Well it turns out some pal games do use some of that extra space and have a higher internal resolution than their NTSC counterparts, and the first game i chose to setup just happened to be one of those games. The Pal version of Ape Escape renders at 384×256.

Anyway now that i know i have to have a set of 256p profiles as well as 240p profiles, this should not take too long to get perfect 4:3 games on the PlayStation 🙂

Im getting very close to awesome picture but i have another question, i see a lot of guides saying that the H.Samplerate is around 487.xx for 384*240

Im in the UK so i have a PAL PS1 and i think the Sample rate might be closer to 490

Can anyone tell me how the sample rate is calculated, and if its possible is could differ slightly between NTSC and PAL Games.

@Enunn Thanks for sharing these and sorry to resurrect this thread from last year, but was wondering if you had timings for the another popular PS1 resolution 384×240, trying to play Ape Escape and i just cant get it right.

Are you sure your cheap ebay scart cable is actually RGB, and not just giving you a composite signal
