I tried my Switch into OSSC Pro just now and I’m getting audio from AV4 as I should, so it seems to me this problem of “no audio on AV4 with a RT5X+OSSC Pro combo” is either a quirk of the RT5X or some combination of things.
As for why I’m adding the RT5X, I needed all of the following or it just wouldn’t be worth it:
- Low lag: The low lag of the RT5X was made even lower by porting over features from the RT4K.
- Seamless 240p/480i switching: The RT5X handles this without a problem in 1080p Over. On the OSSC Pro, I still drop on Scaler Mode + Scaling algorithm: Integer (overscan). It’s fine without the overscan, but I can’t go back to that anymore.
- HDR injection (a.k.a. “fake HDR”): My 1080p TV doesn’t seem to support HDR from the OSSC Pro, and from what I see on the RT4K wiki, even the RT4K doesn’t have HDR injection. Looks good to me and plays nice with my capture card.
Plus according to this tweet, I still get 4:4:4 with the RT5X in all 1080p modes for PS1 (not so for the Saturn). And easy composite and s-video in for the OSSC Pro. I couldn’t do my fine-tuning on anything but the OSSC Pro though.
Maybe double the size of the OSD when it’s in 1080p? At the distance I sit, sometimes it’s just easier to read the display on the OSSC Pro itself.
But yeah, let’s definitely use the “unused” buttons on the remote for our 9 favorite profiles. It’s already got the letter “P” on the buttons!
I got one but I’m not sure if it’s really a “bug “(happened with 0.73 as well):
My capture card program (Media Express, used with Blackmagic UltraStudio Recorder 3G) doesn’t see the audio unless I set the OSSC Pro audio to Quad stereo: on (4.0). That is, I’ll only see the proper movement for audio channels 1 and 2 in my capture card this way. (I’ll also get frozen bars for channels 5 and 6, but who cares)
November 2, 2020 at 8:31 AM in reply to: Higher V. Backporch Support for Optimal PSP In-Game Picture #42542So I’m far from am expert at OSSC fine-tuning, but playing Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions and using the “FFT Slowdown Fix and Unstretch Screen Patch” (the latter of which shrinks the resolution of the game from 480×272 to 320×240), and then using my TV’s zoom feature, I’ve found that setting Sampling Phase to 0 deg (or 348 deg!) in addition to eatnumber1’s settings’s makes things pretty sharp. This is all with 480p Line 2x, of course.
The game’s tiny text, made tinier by the patch, is so much easier to read, and eyes look like eyes again. Also sharpens the tiny text in Baito Hell 2000, which of course never had any such unstretch patch.
I can’t really tell if 0 deg or 348 deg is more centered though.0 deg seemed more centered.August 27, 2017 at 6:35 AM in reply to: Can't get OSSC to work with Gunbird (Psikyo 1st Generation arcade PCB) #14782Happy to report that as of firmware v0.78 I can connect this PCB to my OSSC, and then to my DVDO Edge and get a picture on my PC monitor! Works with Line X2, X3, X4, and even X5. I didn’t try any of those advanced settings tweaks with the OSSC; it just worked. Messing with the DVDO Edge settings (1:1 Frame Rate and Output Frame Lock) didn’t do anything.
It may have even worked with earlier firmware; I know I’ve updated the firmware twice since creating this topic but I didn’t test with this PCB. I believe I was using RGB SCART with the OSSC the last time, and I’m using component now, but I don’t think that would make a difference.
January 29, 2017 at 12:22 AM in reply to: Can't get OSSC to work with Gunbird (Psikyo 1st Generation arcade PCB) #11006Okay, the Gunbird PCB does work directly from the OSSC to my Asus monitor, regardless of Line X3 settings.
As for the DVDO Edge, toggling Line X3 didn’t make any difference, and without the DVDO Edge working in the chain, I won’t be able to capture gameplay. 🙁
