3DO 240p Upgrade

The 3DO console outputs a 480i (interlace) signal by default. Why Trip Hawkins and his gang decided to do this is unclear, as most 3DO games actually look a lot better running in 240p (progressive).

Luckily, it’s possible to install a switch to most 3DO consoles to re-enable progressive scan mode. By ordering this upgrade, we’ll neatly add a switch to the rear of your console that can be used to toggle between the two modes.

Unfortunately, not all 3DO consoles are compatible with this upgrade. To find out if yours is, check the page here. If you want us to check for you, we are happy to do so, but we will unfortunately have to charge for return postage if your console is not compatible.

Note that you may need to put your console into 480i mode during startup then switch to 240p mode once your game has loaded.
