Upgrade your classic Atari 2600 to full, fuzz free RGB with Tim Worthington’s Atari 2600 RGB upgrade. Please note this is a fitting service only, you must provide us with the RGB board, flex adapter (if upgrading a 2600 Junior) and suitable SCART cable, all of which can be obtained here.

The upgrade is fully compatible with OSSC and other scalers and offers both composite video and RGB out. Please also provide us with your Atari 2600 joystick, as a small switch will be installed on the stick to enable you to change between colour palettes. Simply hold down the switch and press fire on the joystick to cycle through the available options.

Furthermore, when using RGB output you can play Atari 2600 games from any region in full colour. Please note however the consoles refresh rate is off-spec when playing non-native region games. This may affect some HDTVs and cause stuttering, juddering or white line/streaks through the image (CRT televisions and monitors are not affected). The table below shows the refresh rates you can expect to see when playing games from various regions, according to the OSSC.
