Installing an FRAM upgrade to your Sega Saturn means that the consoles internal memory won’t be reset if your consoles battery runs out of charge. This neat little flexi PCB allows installation of an FRAM IC upgrade to your Sega Saturn without the need to remove the original SRAM IC, thus making the installation considerably easier.
Sega Saturn consoles with SRAM chips on the bottom side of the board have a fairly high probability of these chips being epoxied to the board, this makes removal more precarious. Furthermore, many people end up tearing the pads, which interrupts BIOS signaling and results in a black screen and prevents the console starting. Using this little flexi PCB means these potential pitfalls can be avoided.
FRAM IC is NOT included with this kit. The FRAM part required is FM18W08.
