The AV Input/Output Adapter v1.3 for Dexx and OSSC Pro can take the D-sub 15 output from the Extra AV Out expansion card and convert it into SCART, suitable for use with European RGB SCART equipped TVs, or component video, more commonly found on North American CRT televisions.
Furthermore, the adapter is bi-directional, so it can also be used to convert SCART into D-Sub 15 if desired. Note that this particular conversion will only work with the OSSC Pro and not with other scalers or devices.
The adapter is extremely helpful for anyone wanting to downscale to a SCART TV. Previously, this required a digital to analogue converter (DAC) that then usually had to go into another adapter (sync combiner or transcoder) and then finally into your RGB SCART television. Using the AV Input/Output adapter along with the Extra AV Out expansion makes this much simpler. This adapter also requires no additional power supply.
Documentation for this adapter can be found on the OSSC Pro Wiki page here.
A note on VGA cables
Customers should note that the AV Input/Output Adapter v1.3 comes without any connecting cables. If you intend to use this adapter to convert the output of the Extra AV Out expansion card to SCART, for use on a consumer SCART television, then you must make sure to get a suitable VGA cable. If purchasing a cable, please check with whoever you purchase the cable from that it is fully wired. Cables with pin 9 disconnected or not present, such as the one shown in the picture, will NOT work.
If pin 4 is disconnected or tied to ground on your VGA cable (which is also common), you may need to change switch 1 to the SCART_1 position in order to get a picture on your television.
This does not affect component video output.
