Due to a design flaw, the Sega Dreamcast is susceptible to damage to its controller ports. Sometimes, just swapping a controller while the power is on will cause all the controller ports on the system to stop functioning. This is despite the console being designed to allow users to swap controllers without having to power off the unit.

This occurs due to a fuse which can blow if there’s a small surge. While this does protect the rest of the console from damage, it also leaves you with an inoperable classic console.

The solution is to fit a better type of fuse. With this mod, we will swap the original fuse in the Dreamcast for a resettable one. If there is a problem, you simply have to turn your Dreamcast off and then back on again and the fuse will reset and your controller ports will start working again, as if by magic.
