DIY kits are from an entirely different supplier so that won’t affect things with the pre-assembled units. I’ll keep updating on here when I have more information.
Very cool. Placed my order on July 1st after seeing that audio is now fully implemented into the HDMI out. That was the key for me. Can’t wait to start playing with this thing. Will check this thread frequently. Thanks BuckoA51!
Placed my order yesterday and can’t wait to get this and see my Dreamcast and Saturn shine.
@Gummi: There are no suitable 3xRCA connectors widely available that are colored in YPbPr order. As with SCART connectors, they are considered legacy products now and availability only gets worse as time goes on.
Thanks for the reply. The availability issue is very disheartening to hear, makes me worried about the future of retro consoles.
But it’s good to know that alternative connectors are hard to source. It’s not an issue in any case. And I actually just found something that’s not in the YPbPr order, I just picked up an HD AV Pack for the original Xbox and the plugs on that are in GRB (YPrPb) order. So while it seems to be mostly YPbPr order I guess it’s all over the place.
Them feels when you miss the first batch by a day :'( Thanks for the update!
Damn, looks like I missed out on the first batch too 🙁 Is the October shipping estimate from the manufacturer to yourself, or when you’ll send out the completed units?
Would ordering the DIY version of the OSSC suffer from the same component shortage as the pre-built units assuming I get the advanced DIY kit?

Shipping from the factory to us, all being well.

I’m not certain which component is in short supply, so possibly.
Arrrrgh. Placed my order on July 1st. Oh well. I’ve gone forever without one anyway, so what’s a few more months? I’ll just have to use my haphazard array of various scalers and scanline generators and other circuit boards/cables until then. Waiting longer won’t kill me. 🙂
“To have made it into the early batch, you would have needed to order on or before the 29th June”
But but I ordered on the 29th and got an email today saying that i missed the first batch!?
I’m assuming the cutoff occurred at some point in the 29th, so perhaps you ordered after the 750th person?
Ouch thanks Bucko, fingers crossed things go smoothly with the 2nd batch! Time to go into hibernation for a few months..

That’s exactly right, the 750th order was placed sometime on the 29th.
“Component Shortages” – hurting videogamers since 1988. 🙂
