I did the soldering there tonight (which was hairy, the leg of the chip absolutely refused to let me snag to it) on my older 1.5 board (with audio mod) but i messed up and accidentally soldered two of the chip pins together while getting the wire onto it, taking it into work for a more experienced colleague to help clean up the messed pins and do the wire onto the chip for me 🙁 whoops, bad form Tsuki.

January 11, 2024 at 7:27 PM #59827@LaminGaming: so with the N64 in 480i, the front display shows 525-i and red LED is not alight in any multiplication mode?
January 11, 2024 at 8:32 PM #59832Yeah, it says 525-i and there’s no light in any multiplication mode. If it was working, the green light would be on. This is how I know it isn’t my TV not accepting the signal. I also tested it through my Cam Link into OBS, as that’s been very reliable with everything I’ve tried, though unfortunately with the same results – not receiving a signal. So I know it’s an issue specific to the OSSC, but I don’t know what is the cause. Unless it’s got something to do with the Koryuu Transcoder in some way, like maybe it needs to be updated, as I recall the update fixed a couple of bugs. The N64 is the only console I have hooked up through the Koryuu, so that could be a reason. But it still doesn’t explain why it worked with v0.90.
Known issues with the Koryuu: https://junkerhq.net/xrgb/index.php?title=Koryuu#Known_issues_.2F_limitations
Edit: I realised it actually says 262-p for 480i, and then switches to 263-p for 240p, so it isn’t 525-i. The OSSC might be misinterpreting the signal as 240p maybe.

January 11, 2024 at 8:39 PM #59833heelo!
in 480i/525i i using 4x(bob) and works fine with my sega saturn games with ypbr cable from retrogaming cables. Many games have menu in 525i and sync is very fast, don’t work signal any time.

January 12, 2024 at 9:15 AM #59842So… if i rewire the connections between U1 and U2 on an OSSC 1.6 to match the connections on an OSSC 1.8:
- disconnect pin 127 of U2 from ground and connect ist with button 0 (together with pin 128)
- cut the trace to pin 22 of U1 and connect the trace with pin 25 instead
… the beta firmware should work too (while leaving the functionality of both LEDs intact)?
Seems like there’s a fault in the schematics for version 1.8 (or are there newer ones?):
https://github.com/marqs85/ossc_pcb/blob/v1.8/doc/ossc_board.pdf
According to those FPGA pins 127 & 128 are connected as a board revision indicator while in reality pins 126 and 128 need to be connected.
So i had to redo the rewiring of my v1.6 pcb:
… but it works now!
January 12, 2024 at 11:36 AM #59845Wow, that rewiring work is absolutely beautiful!
January 12, 2024 at 4:28 PM #59848@LaminGaming: sounds like there is something strange in Koryuu output if it’s reported as 262-p. Can you test some other 480i source through it? You can also rule out N64 being the issue by connecting its composite directly to Y-input of AV2 (results in B/W image, but can be used to check sync nevertheless).
January 12, 2024 at 4:29 PM #59849@Morpheus_79: seems like the PDF schematic file was not to up to date with the actual design files, but I regenerated it and pushed the new file into repo.
January 12, 2024 at 7:05 PM #59851@Zacabeb Anyone can do that with enough practice and some decent soldering tools. And a microscope may help – especially if your eyesight is getting worse with age, like mine does 😉 .
@marqs Thanks for all the time you still put into this to improve everything!- This reply was modified 11 months, 2 weeks ago by Morpheus_79.
January 12, 2024 at 10:39 PM #59855@marqs I’ve finally been able to get the N64’s 480i to display a picture with the new firmware. Connecting the composite RCA to the Y (green) RCA input on the OSSC says 480i is 525-i at 61.14 Hz. So it was definitely an issue with the Koryuu, I’ll try updating the firmware when I can, to see if that fixes the issue.
Another issue: I’ve noticed that there is an issue with 480i at 4x, the resolution switches to 1280×1920 instead of being 1280×960 when I change the “H. s.rate frac”. Not sure why this happens, but I thought to let you know.
January 20, 2024 at 1:26 AM #59955My colleague fixed my soldering problem and now my OSSC is working again with 1.08a 🙂 quick test of line6x and it works on my sony x90e from a megadrive (though the sync dropped in sonic 2 when it showed 2player in the demo – at least i think it was 2player mode, and i had to change the hdmi output to get sound down the dvi using audio mod). Also, the pvm mask looks hella fine! <3
Will give it more testing as the days go on.
Anyone got a converted firebrandx profile list or a compatible online profiler? 😀 I can’t hold the github to do it myself 🙁
January 20, 2024 at 11:22 PM #59967I have tested 1.09a on my setup and like @LaminGaming , I have 480i issues that’s somewhat easy to replicate. Using an everdrive on my megadrive1 (PAL 60hz modded) with a packapunch cable, I turn on the 240p/480i test from the 240p test suite (megacd version) and switch it from 240p to 480i. There is no output (nor green light on ossc) on my x90e tv on 1.09 and i believe this works under 0.90a firmware (I can test).
I can send the video link on request of a video recording of it happening (I’d rather not make it public)January 21, 2024 at 9:42 AM #59973It sounds like you have not adjusted H-PLL pre and post coast option to 3 (under sync menu). That is needed with MD interlace modes regardless of firmware version.
January 22, 2024 at 10:15 PM #59991Hi Marqs,
Ah, you are correct, I missed that, it now works as normal; Thank you <3 I must’ve missed that setting when i was taking photos and writing down settings from 0.9 and then applying them again in 1.09 – that was my bad, i should be more careful in copying across my settings next time.
Thanks <3February 15, 2024 at 8:19 AM #60209Hello guys!
Please help, don’t know what to do)
I updated my firmware of OSSC from 0.8 to 1.09 and now I have only start screen. I can’t do anything with help of pilot. No option of many is avaliable now. I even can’t go update my previous firmware..
