I like to keep the PS2 connected to the OSSC since I’m also playing PS1 games through it (which run in 240p so they can be line tripled by the OSSC).
By the way, I’m planning to connect my PS2 to the OSSC through RGsB (Sync On Green) since it’s the only console right now connected through component. Can you recommend a SCART cable that will work with 480p over RGB?
I have a little hiccup with my setup (OSSC + DVDO iScan Duo):
The different consoles I hooked up to my OSSC all produce slightly shifted and scaled images on my TV. As far as I can tell, the DVDO doesn’t have a preset/profile functionality for different profiles on a single input. All my retro stuff feeds into the HDMI1 input (through a Scart switch and lastly the OSSC).
Since Line4X doesn’t make sense on my PAL 288p consoles, I use Line3X for these. All interlaced sources such as my PAL Gamecube or some PS2 games are set to passthru mode, so that my DVDO can take care of deinterlacing.
Is there a way to set the OSSC so that all the console connected to it send a perfectly screen filling image to the DVDO?
Thanks 🙂
I tested my equipment with Line 4X and 5x and this is what I got:
DVDO Edge + Sega MD II PAL: 4X No, 5X Yes
DVDO Edge + SNES PAL: 4X No, 5X Yes
DVDO Edge + N64 NTSC: 4X Yes, 5X YesDVDO iScan Duo + Sega MD II PAL: 4X No, 5X No (it shows a strange distorted image)
DVDO iScan Duo + SNES PAL: 4X No, 5X No (it shows a strange distorted image)
DVDO iScan Duo + N64 NTSC: 4X Yes, 5X No (it shows a strange distorted image)Which settings would you recommend me to tinker with, to make the 5X setting work with the iScan Duo? I’d much prefer to use the Duo and get rid of the Edge down the line.
I also recently got hold of a DVDO Edge.
Has anyone tried feeding it with Line X5 yet?
Does Line X4 work with both PAL & NTSC sources on the EDGE?
Aaaand: Ordered! 🙂
In my OSSC setup, I use an analogue RCA switchbox with 3 inputs (1 for SCART, 1 for Component and 1 for VGA) that outputs audio to my Panasonic plasma’s audio in socket.
In the TV’s menu, I then tell it to use the analogue audio input in conjunction with the digital video on HDMI input #1. Works beautifully!

Wow, thank you for all the quick help and useful suggestions – what a lovely community! 🙂
My Dreamcast flicker-issue was resolved after swapping out the VGA cable. Now, the output on my screen is as pretty and crisp as the other consoles!
Thanks to the suggestion from marqs, I managed to get a proper 4:3 aspect ratio on my Panasonic after switching from “Game” mode to “Normal” mode. I even found a moderate sharpness setting on my TV to look great (it’s set to 3 now).
As for my Megadrive II flicker woes, I’m planning to swap out my RGB Scart cable I ordered from consolegoods.co.uk with one from regrogamingcqbles.co.uk – I hope that remedies the flickering!
