Just received a replacement RT2X Pro from StoneAgeGamer and so far it looks good with no additional noise on the default and latest v1.6 firmware. I must have gotten a bad unit originally as I’ve changed nothing in my setup since my last trials.
New cables and switching TVs didn’t fix the issue. A redditor was nice enough to check their RT2X Pro and observed no issue. I guess I got a bad unit. Returning and retesting when a replacement is received.
Several more tests have been run to reduce the noise from the pro in my current chain of devices for svideo connections,
RT2X Pro -> GBS8200 -> OSSC -> Framemeister
Unsurprisingly shorter hdmi cables with ferrite cores minimally reduce the noise. Solid color screens with darker colors show the noise more pronounced than lighter colors.
My next steps are two ensure all my cables in the chain are as shielded as they can reasonably be with ferrite cores/attachments.
Have you updated the device to the latest firmware?
Yes. I am on v1.6. After running more tests with the 240p test suite I noticed significantly decreased flicker on the pro compared to the non-pro v3.1. However, the noise is still present when observing a solid color screen, like the blue gray on an Everdrive 64 default menu.
I’ll know this weekend. Picked one up last week.
September 1, 2020 at 5:36 PM in reply to: Best Picture Quality for PS2 w/ 4K TV and Component Cables? #41180My setup is as follows,
[component] -> [GBS8200] -> [VGA to Component] -> [OSSC]
Make sure to set the output to 480p and RGBHV output is set in the web ui. Using a tendak vga to hdmi would probably work fine. Look out for crushed blacks.

Also consider having the gbs8200 deinterlace to 480p then line double with the ossc to 960p. I do this and it looks great, better than the gbs8200 scaling to 960p imo.
echofreeze: While I have and enjoy a framemeister, nowadays it’s not the most cost effective solution. I recommend using a retrotink2x or RAD2x. The best bang for your buck is going to be the retrotink2x. Check out the stats, https://www.retrotink.com/product-page/retrotink-2x
If you are looking to get a framemeister then it should be interlaced support, e.g. 480i. Although, you may want to review the GBS8200 with GBS Control https://github.com/ramapcsx2/gbs-control or wait for the OSSC Pro for a cheaper interlaced solution.
@chofreeze: For me, scanlines help with noise and dither. You may benefit from moving to composite which should help to remove dither. Review this video, especially at the one minute mark Composite vs RGB. I would try composite and see if it looks good to you. You’re already on 2x 4:3 generic which would soften then image. You could try enabling Sampling->upsample2x (http://junkerhq.net/xrgb/index.php?title=OSSC).
Try a direct scart connection from your PS1/2 to the OSSC, and keep the HDMI splitter removed. Removing the scart switcher from the chain eliminates another potential error source. This review of the Shinybow does report instability Shinybow Review

June 9, 2020 at 10:20 PM in reply to: No signal to Samsung RU7100 (even with no video game console hooked up) #38777What are your tv settings? Are you in game mode, input signal plus disabled, fit to screen enabled, hdmi source setting? What about the ossc settings?
June 9, 2020 at 5:27 PM in reply to: No signal to Samsung RU7100 (even with no video game console hooked up) #38765I have the RU7100 and can confirm it works. Try setting the OSSC to line 3x with 4:3 generic. I haven’t tested the test pattern recently, but I can help debug a little if you need it.
Unfortunately your video has been taken down. You may want to upload to google drive.
