The Time Sleuth is a HDMI input lag or display lag testing device created by Black Dog Technology. The device is designed to allow for gamers to measure the input lag inherent in any flat screen display. It can be used for evaluating displays and entire setups, including video processors and home theatre systems. It connects to any modern display using a HDMI cable (not supplied) or to older displays using a suitable adapter.
While primarily designed for gamers and testing for gaming performance, Time Sleuth can also be useful for calibrating AV lip-sync delay, particularly where systems such as HDMI ARC are not available or do not work properly.
The unit can operate in five different output resolutions, namely 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p. These output modes can be selected by turning a dial on the front of the unit. Time Sleuth is the first device of its kind that can output interlace resolutions, allowing gamers and AV professionals to gain insight into how this problematic resolution affects their gaming setup.
Time Sleuth is much easier to use and more reliable than competing devices and with its range of output resolutions, much more flexible.
Time Sleuth requires a HDMI to HDMI cable (not supplied) and a Mini USB power connector. Users can either use a suitable USB cable with a vacant USB port on their target display, a portable USB power bank or purchase a suitable power supply with their unit.
To connect the device to older displays, a HDMI to VGA adapter can be used.
All our Time Sleuth devices come complete with 3D printed plastic case, as shown in the picture.
