What games specifically? I’ve never encountered that. I think what you are seeing are games that switch from 240p to 480i.

Yes that’s what I meant. From the PS1 logo at boot up to the game menu to the actual game, I feel like the console switch back and forth between 240p and 480i several times. I don’t recall ever encountering that on Saturn.

Regarding Snes, is there a way to force it to work on most screens even without the dejitter board?

There is a very simple solution to this: use generic mode.

Yes, that works, but some games just jump all over the place and signal gets lost. What I mean is that Saturn looks perfect and steady, but you’re bound to get problems at some point with PS1.

I can confirm NES RGB works on LG C9 without the need of a dejitter.

To be perfectly honest I only tried the NES RGB on Panasonic plasma screens, and it never worked. didn’t bother try it on the C9. The SNES however, doesn’t work at all on the C9, or on any screen that I tried. Regarding the N64, please let me know which settings you’re using, cause even in generic it looks really flickered and ugly.

But I still do wonder if there was perhaps some FW update to the LGs that made them less tolerant…

        Yes, I suspect the same.

“If you install the dejitter board”. Exactly. And that should be something worth noting to everybody that want to buy the OSSC, as not everyone wants to do some extra WORK / soldering. In the case of Yelkk, he says that the Snes is his favourite console, and saying the OSSC would be a perfect fit for him would be downright unfair. As I said he’s better off getting a CRT or the Framemeister if Nintendo is his thing. NES RGB doesn’t work well / AT ALL either, and the N64 RGB, well, depends on the quality of the RGB mod but more often than not you’ll just use the passthru to have stability and that doesn’t look good on N64 RGB which, again, will look better on a CRT or Framemeister. And that comes from someone that hates emulator looks.

When it comes to PS1, it’s a bit different, the problem comes with the fact that PS1 deliver 4 different resolutions, sometimes within a single game, which makes it difficult to set the OSSC correctly so that it doesn’t lose signal and looks good all the time. And even with Firebrand settings, PS1 doesn’t fit very well with the OSSC either and I’d rather use it with the Framemeister.

Other that that, OSSC is pure gold.

Hi Yelkk! Well, the OSSC is one of the best device for retrogamers, I’m using it all the time and the results are very often amazing. That said, it is true that Nintendo consoles are a little bit more problematic and often doesn’t work. I have several SFC and 2 NESRGB and none of them worked with my C9 nor my Panasonic Plasma, and I’ve tried everything possible. So, if the Super Nintendo is indeed your favorite console, I would go another route. Best thing you can do with Nintendo consoles is to plug them into a good CRT. It won’t get any better than this 🙂 If you don’t have CRT, and don’t plan on buying one, then I would advice you to get the XRGB mini aka framemeister. It is the best device for Nintendo consoles, by far. Only problem is that you’ll get a bit of lag, which the OSSC doesn’t have, but it’s really not that much and far less than all the mini consoles.

Hi guys! Just purchased the LG 65 OLED C9, and here’s my report:

              DC with Toro: beautiful!
Megadrive / Master System / Saturn: beautiful, especially x3 and x5 (even though in x5 the image is cropped)
PC Engine (RGB modded): Good, but some loss of signal occur from time to time
Snes: Nope, sadly still doesn’t work… It starts ok but loses signal after 1 or 2 seconds, in x2, x3, x4 or x5
PS 1 and modded N64: it works but looks crap, which is expected as they always look crap (especially N64, PS1 is ok but not as good as Saturn)

Well no matter what TV you have, it seems the OSSC is king with everything Sega! And my god the picture quality on the OLED C9 is just other worldly 🙂

Oh man! You’re raising the bar of expectations tremendously high 😉 Hope you’ve found a magical way to make those modes work with my TV!

I tried to output DVI signal through FM, but I cannot choose a format in DVI output, they’re all grey and impossible to select, can’t even move the arrow. When I set the output on DVI anyway, I get no pictures and therefore can’t even access the menu. Have to press HDMI on the remote to get a picture.

So yeah, seems my TV doesn’t like DVI or any PC format.

Hi marqs, I didn’t see that wiki section until now thanks. Ok then Neo Geo is out of the equation for now.

Regarding Nes/Snes I almost manage to stabilize the image by tweeking a little but no matter what I do and try, it’s still slightly out of sync. But it’s close…

Regarding the wiki, I have a RGB modded French N64 and it is working well with OSSC (passthrough)

Hi, thanks all for your help. I tried to tweek a little but couldn’t make Lx3/4/5 to work at all. I think as you say Harrumph that the problem is that my tv is locked with HDMI standard and nothing else come through. Marqs just told me on the shmups forum that he had the same issues with his plasma earlier generation VT30Y, so there’s that. I’ll enjoy Lx3/4/5 next time I buy a new tv 🙂 Now I’m still working on the other issues I have which is to make Nes/Snes and Neo Geo work on the VT50Y.

Yes I have a framemeister. But I’m not sure I understand what you want me to try? My OSSC is already plugged to my TV via DVI–>HDMI converter. It’s true that every system work via the framemeister… Do you mean I should route the signal to the Framemeister in DVI and then to the TV in HDMI? Would that regulate the signal? But then I would loose the advantage of the OSSC (lag free), wouldn’t I?

Wow, my tv doesn’t have half the settings that are on this manual. No PC mode either… Which make sense since my tv doesn’t have DVI input (I’m using DVI to HDMI adapter for the OSSC). That explains a lot I think. Too bad… I think I’ll have to buy a new TV someday then.

                          Thanks

Great stuff, thanks. Still not working for my Panasonic TX-P55VT50Y, but glad some people are looking into this 🙂

                              Cool.

I was hoping the passthru mode and/or the new linex4 and linex5 would somehow fix the NEO GEO and Nes/SuperNes problem (Neo Geo has no picture and Nes/SuperNes has stability issues with picture jumping constantly) but no, still the same.

Is there some new settings I can adjust to be able to stabilize the picture somehow? Or will it be implemented in future fw? Or is it most probably… doomed forever..?

                              Thanks

OK it finally worked. The technique shown above is partly correct, but if you write in Terminal rdisk2 (or whatever number you have) it will not work. You have to put disk2, without the r. So something like this: sudo dd bs=1m if=/Users/nameofuser/Downloads/ossc_0.76.bin of=/dev/disk2
for some reason rdisk didn’t work with 0.76, which led me to multiple try and fail before I found the way to make it work.

Or, I get “invalid argument” in the Terminal when trying to write disc image from bin on SD card. I get an error also with using the dd software. Nothing works so far.
