Have these been integrated into the newest firmware or is it only in firmware 0.77?
I never got your email. Do you still have that board for sale?
If you’ll send me an email I’m definitely interested.
I too am looking to buy one. They are sold out again.
Will these filters be updated for 0.77? It is only with 0.77 that I have been able to get line triple mode to work reliably. Also would it be possible for them to work for l4x and l5x? I enjoyed the filters on line double mode and would love to use them on the higher modes if possible. Thank you for all the work you’ve put into the filters so far. They make a noticeable difference in image quality, especially in regards to smoothing the image to make it a bit less jagged.
I just updated to 0.77 and now l2x-l5x works for my TV (Samsung un46c6300sf). Oddly enough on 0.76 lx4 was stable but not Lx5 but they’re now reversed on 0.77. Lx5 works with just a few tweaks. I had to set the lpf to 33mhz, hpll2x pretty Coast to 0 and disable the setting that most people have to disable for Lx5 to stabilize (the name escapes me at the moment). Every now and then the screen shakes for a brief second but it is very infrequent. I also had to change my aspect ratio to “fit on screen” in the TV settings as the default 16/9 left me with a box shaped image that was too large for the screen. Also, despite it not being listed as a compatible resolution for my TV 1920×1200 also displays a picture. It is 16 by 9 letter boxed but fills more of the overall picture than 1920×1080. I still prefer 1920×1080 though. It looks more natural.
So small update. I upgraded the firmware in my TV, changed the input name to DVi devices, disabled anything in the TV settings that looked like it could interfere, and played with the Adv timing and now I’m getting signs of lx5 support. The image flickers but can’t seem to stabilize for more than a second or two (just long enough for game audio to be heard briefly). Is there some combination of settings I could possibly adjust to stabilize the image?
Edit: I have a stable image in Lx5! I had to disable “Allow tvp hpll2x”. Just like with the other outputs I cant seem to get the correct aspect ratio. Also I have a tear running up the middle of my screen that won’t go away. Not sure what’s up with that.
Display
Samsung UN46C6300SF (1080p)Consoles tested:
Snes mini with rgb amp and HD retro vision cable
Ps1 games via ps2 slim over component cable240p passthrough: good
L2x: good
L3x: acceptable (see below)
L4x: acceptable (see below)
L5x: needs work (see below)L3x and L4x will work after making the recommended adjustments from harumph, however, I cannot get the correct aspect ratio. Reducing V. Active back to 240 results in picture loss. I have adjusted every setting on the TV I can find and am unable to restore the correct aspect ratio. So Lx3 and Lx4 have a black border all the way around the image.
Edit: I managed to get line 5x working with some serious tweaking. Picture is extremely sensitive and becomes unstable very easily if the wrong timing is tweaked but I did get a stable image. Like Lx3 and lx4 it does not have the correct aspect ratio and any attempts to change it results in picture loss. Also there is a jagged pink line down the middle of the screen in this mode only. Changing back to L3x or l4x makes the line disappear. The picture you get looks stunning though and if the pink line could be removed it would be the ideal setting. I tested l5x with an rgb amplified ntsc snes mini over the HD retro vision component cable.
Well unfortunately I was not able to get lx5 working. I was able to get the picture scaled to fit into the box horizontally though. I followed the steps for adjusting v.active to 256 and then adjusting v.backporch down to 3 which is where my TV will get an image. Next I aligned the text until sharp and then I hit a snag. For some reason I cannot adjust v.active back down to 240. I lose the image no matter what I try to adjust. This is in both generic 4:3 and 256×324 optim. What I’m left with is an image that is just a tiny bit too large to fit horizontally so it cuts off the image a bit on 1 side or the other and then I have black bars above the image but they’re not even. It still looks better than being framed all the way around so Im making some progress. I’ll try lx3 tomorrow and see if I have better luck.
Thank you for the feedback. I’ll try it out tonight and see if it works. Assuming it doesn’t work how can I get lx3 and lx4 to take up the rest of the screen vertically? I’m actually pretty happy with lx4 it’d just be nice to get it to fit the rest of the screen vertically. I have the TV set to the 4:3 aspect ratio and have a picture within a black frame. Is there any way to get it to take up the rest of the box? Also in looking at the manual it says under VESA DMT it can output to 1680 x 1050. Is this a resolution the ossc can output to? My current resolution is 1280 x 1024 so it would be a bit higher of a resolution. Just a thought. Thanks again for the feedback, I look forward to trying it out!
I have a question about Lx5 mode. My display is a Samsung UN46C6300. At first I could only get line double mode to work but I was able to get Lx3 and Lx4 working by using the timing tweak suggestions from this forum. What I cant seem to get working is Lx5. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions based on the information (taken from the manual) provided below:
Mode: VESA DMT / DTV CEA
Resolution: 1920 x 1080 @ 60 Hz
Horizontal frequency (Khz): 67.500
Vertical frequency (Hz): 60.00
Pixel clock frequency (MHz): 148.500
Sync Polarity: + / +All of my testing was with an RGB amp modified snes mini over hdretrovision component cables. Also, on lx3 my TV does not display the resolution but it does on lx4, not sure why. Both lx3 and lx4 are windowed within a black frame all the way around. I have not been able to get it to take up all of the window vertically. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
