I’ve got a fully modded VA4 MD too, worked flawlessly so far, guess it’s a risk running heavily modded consoles that are out of spec.
I had the same thing that happened on a Jap Snes, worked perfectly fine for an hour, suddenly went black and the dreaded “No sync” appeared, thought it was broken, would not work, reset everything on the OSSC too.
Roll on 24 hours, tried it on my mates OSSC, worked great, tried it at home and it was absolutely fine…….very strange and unexplainable.
Just to add, that firmware fix worked a treat 🙂
Thanks! I’ll try it 🙂
One question whilst I have your attention, does Voultars RGB bypass for megadrive, work on the OSSC? I can’t find a definitive answer:)
February 18, 2019 at 1:00 AM in reply to: Sticky – Essential OSSC Resources – Check before asking for support! #25305There’s a bug with 1080i/p modes having their advanced settings wiped, everytime the OSSC is powered off by the switch, all other modes save fine, apart from 1080i/p, its frustrating because having to put it all back in each time you use it, is frustrating at best, and essentially unusable.
That’s a definite bug then, glad it’s not just me, I’ve been keeping it on all the time so it wouldn’t wipe, gave up in the end, as not being able to turn it off is ridiculous.
So I’m using 480ix4 bob to TV, the games I’m playing do not have widescreen options, so it’s standard 4:3, and appropriately selected on the TV too, it just looks too narrow, when comparing 480p or 240p modes, I can tell, so forcing 1080i widens the screen, then with a few resolution tweaks in advanced OSSC settings I can get the vertical filled, and wide enough to match any other non 480i modes, but the OSSC will not save anything 1080i, it’s absolutely bizzare! Only way is to keep it in standby permanently, but why should I have to do that, when all other profiles and resolutions save perfectly fine, when the power switch is flicked off, makes no sense.
Yeah I’ll see, may give the Megadrive a go, as most are the same res, but mine is getting modded with a Mega amp at the moment, so I’ve got to wait :/
Cheers mate, I run at 5X, so the heartache for gaining a tiny bit of extra crispness, just isn’t worth it, shame it’s so difficult to make it work, but it still looks awesome, so that’s good, I don’t like running pal games, 50hz and borders isn’t something I want to use, all my library is based around imports anyway.
It’s really confusing, at least using generic 4:3 is a set and forget option for every 240p console game, even if it’s a tiny bit softer.
Possibly, maybe it’s bad luck when I put another game in, it is actually another resolution, trouble is OSSC just reports 263p whatever, unless it’s pal or interlaced, makes it difficult at best.
I’ll give it another go with the Megadrive, but just tried with the Saturn, whilst one game looks good, another is terrible.
Yeah that’s what I assumed, but even when one game like Klonoa on the PS1 looks perfect, you put on another, say Castlevania Chronicles, and it’s awful, flickery weird text etc, feels impossible to use optim, and I’m finding Megadrive/Saturn/PS1 (anything 224/240p) just can’t be used with that mode.
