So the update to 0.80a fixed my audio issue! (and I assume the issues of many others)
Now if only I could get Line3x or 4x workin on my VT60 🙁
I can’t wait to try this with my SNES Jr / SD2SNES combo to see if it fixes the noise.
Interesting update to this… I normally play SNES games using a SD2SNES. Every game I tried using, produced the noise I’m referring to. However, the Yoshi’s Island cart I just purchased plays from the same setup with ZERO NOISE.
Anyone else who has a SD2SNES, a RGB-modded SNES Jr and a OSSC with HDMI, try it out for yourself. And before anyone says it’s an issue with my SD2SNES, it sounds fine running on the same SNES with a Framemeister, and the same SD2SNES runs fine sitting in my Analogue Super Nt. Also, the sound coming out of the SNES going straight to a pair of speakers from my gscartsw sounds completely pristine. It’s only when it’s using a SD2SNES and hooked up through my OSSC that I get the noise.
I’ll also add that there is literally zero reason for the digital audio clock for the OSSC’s analog-to-digital audio converter to be synced with the video signal, especially when there are so many consoles out there with non-standard refresh rates. IMO it’s a substantial oversight on the part of Marqs with this recent HDMI addition. It’d be nice to see a firmware update that could address this.
That is really unfortunate. I’m already running a long HDMI cable from my old consoles to the rest of my more modern TV setup. It’s not really practical for me to do a separate analog audio run too. I’d say that this in and of itself would be cause for me to switch back to the Framemeister, but luckily, I have a Super NT coming my way very soon, and the real SNES may end up getting retired.
Anyone have any advice for me to get anything more than 480p out of my OSSC to display on my VT60 plasma using Bonzobits’s settings? I’m pretty stumped. And it doesn’t just happen with my SNES, but also happens with my NESRGB modded AV Famicom and my RGB-modded N64 modded by Voultar.
I’m bummed because I was really hyped to replace my Framemeister with this less laggy alternative.
Could it be that BonzoBits is using DVI while I’m using HDMI with my newer OSSC and the HDMI cable can’t carry the nonstandard resolutions and refresh rates?
So I just got my OSSC and have a Panasonic 65VT60.. Have been attempting to use BonzoBits’ SNES settings, I’m going through a gscartsw with sync stripping turned off, so it’s passing through the SNES’s CSYNC, the other simultaneous output to my PVM is working fine, and the OSSC’s HDMI out is going directly to the VT60 and doesn’t have a receiver in the way. I still can’t get anything but the 480p Line2x out of it though. I’m following BonzoBits’s SNES/Line4x/Optim 256 x 240 to a T. Anything I could be overlooking that wouldn’t allow me to use the x3 and up modes? Would it just be the fact that I’m using the HDMI model and BonzoBits has the DVI one?
Also, just tried some Super Mario World in Line2x mode, and am getting some constant high frequency white noise in the sound channels… Doesn’t exist in my direct speaker connection to the gscartsw, so this is definitely an issue with the OSSC..
Got my tracking number today.
I ordered on June 30th and don’t have a tracking number yet.:(
How do we find out what number we are on the preorder list?
