Sega Saturn Digital Audio Upgrade Board

Thanks to the unique design of the Sega Saturn, we may never get a pure digital video upgrade for the console. However, it is possible to add a digital audio upgrade. The Sega Saturn Digital Audio Upgrade Board, as sold here, can add TOSLINK output to your classic console. TOSLINK digital audio ensures completely noise free, perfect quality audio output from your console at all times.

Even premium RGB cables often carry a small amount of noise in the analogue audio, so this upgrade is well worth doing especially for gamers with high end audio setups in their gaming room. Note that a compatible amplifier/receiver, video scaler or DAC (digital to analogue converter) is required in order to use TOSLINK. The OSSC Pro, The Morph 2K and Morph 4K all support digital audio input.

We can supply the mod with or without a TOSLINK connector. The TOSLINK connector itself can be mounted externally on the console by drilling a small hole or, if you prefer a no cut solution, use the Sega Saturn Toslink Battery Door as sold on Laser Bear (or you can print your own). If you purchase the battery door pre made, it usually comes with the TOSLINK connector pre-installed, so there’s no need to purchase one from us.

If you opt to cut your Saturn’s case, be careful when mounting the TOSLINK connector so not to obstruct access to the consoles cartridge port.
