No biggie. I do have 384 timings!
384×240-Output Options Line2x/3x/4x/5x/ mode: 384x240 optim. -Sampling Options Sampling phase: 225 deg -Advanced Timing -H. Samplerate/s.rate adj: 487.85 -H. synclen: 37 -H. backporch: 46 -H. active: 384 -V. synclen: 3 -V. backporch: 14 -V. active: 240
Tweak as necessary. I do suggest checking out FireBrandX’s profiles though. Since this thread was made FBX made PS1 profiles + the usual OSSC changes because of firmware.
Coming back to this topic, upsample 2x did kinda help with me but its somewhat sharp on one side but very smudgy on the other side with 480p games.

No matter what phase I have it on I can’t get a sharp image. Changed the samplerate too, nothing. Is there even a way to get optimized timings for the Xbox? I remember FBX saying something about it on shmups but I don’t remember exactly. This is kinda one of the reasons why I’m not a fan of the Xbox’s picture quality. I’m using the official Microsoft HD Pack too. It could just be my Xbox (there’s some rolling lines in 480i mode and they’re very very very faint in the other modes but they’re mostly unnoticable) but I’m not too sure.
Looks like the forum migration wiped the rest of the replies. I’m still having this issue and I remember someone (either marqs or bucko) saying it was a flaw in something about the OSSC but I’m not 100% sure. It works fine in 2x/4x modes but I like to capture in 480i so it’s a bit rough for me.
there’s something up with some part of the wii. turn on upsample 2x, thats the only way i could get it smoothed out
late but i was using an insurrection scart cable but it happened with my hd retrovision component cables too. looks like disabling sync lpf is fixing it so far. i’ll update if it keeps happening. thanks!
Another day, another TV.
Element ELST4316S
240p:
1x – yes
2x – yes
3x – yes
4x – yes
5x – yes480i
1x – yes
2x – yes
3x – suprisingly yes
4x – yes480p
1x – yes
2x – yes720p passthrough works fine
1080i passthrough and 2x work fine.Still don’t have a SNES but N64 works fine in 5X.
Playing in 4:3 is a pain on this TV. After two resolution changes the aspect ratio changes itself to Wide. Drives me crazy.
yeah its a widescreen game. didn’t bother to stretch out the screenshot 😛
and yes i had it set to 480p
yeah i’m using the 7314 mod
looks like i got it. thanks man!
i’m a few weeks late since i just found my n64 after moving
its still a bit noisy but setting the h samplerate to 386 with the H. s.rate adj set to 1 was the “sharpest”. 2 3 and 4 added noise. not sure what im doing wrong but it could be the n64’s blur as far as i know 😛
edit: changing sampling phase to 281 and changing h s rate adj to 3 seems to mostly fix it although there might still be a bit of noise and yada yada
It should work fine on PS2 aswell.
Oh my bad lol
I don’t think there’s a list but most 3d games run at 512×240, a lot of 2d games run at 320 but there’s probably some 3d games that run at 320, Doom and SOTN (in-game) run at 256 pixels wide.
What I’d do is save a profile for each resolution and once you get your settings dialed in just load each profile while you’re in-game and see which one looks the best. That’s what I do.
FirebrandX doesn’t have any PS1 settings but the settings I use ain’t that bad tbh

You may have to tweak these settings for it to be just right. Hope it helps!
Sorry for bumping but I’m having a bit of a problem for 320×240 games. Half of the screen is quite sharp yet the other has a bit of noise.
Look at the text. There’s a little noise on the side.
My settings for 320×240 games are this:
H. Samplerate – 387
H. synclen – 22
H. backporch – 34
H. active – 320
Sampling Phase – 22 degAny help? Thanks!
sorry that im a week or two late lol
everything looks fine now! thanks!
HD60S user here.
If you use the Elgato software you’re stuck with 2x mode if you use 240p, passthrough for 480p.
However, if you use something like Amarec, OBS (don’t use the elgato game capture hd source), virtualdub, yadda yadda you’ll be able to capture up to 5x. Only tried this on the PS1 so not sure if the SNES will work just as well.
The downside is that whenever there’s a resolution change the capture card either goes off center or just goes blank until the resolution goes back to whatever resolution it saw first. So if there’s a 240p game and it switches to 480i you’ll see nothing til you go back to the 240p portion of the game. Doesn’t happen if you’re using 240p/480i2x modes + if you don’t have optimized sampling settings. It’s a pain.
