I meant to follow up myself, but I had a chance to test the NES, SNES, and Genesis on the 50 inch TCL 50S535. Can’t remember what 240p passthrough did, however 2x through 5x worked flawlessly in both generic 4:3 and optimized profiles for all consoles. The picture on the screen was in 4:3.

I bought this TV a few weeks ago, I may be able to play around with it a bit this weekend and see if there’s anything I can figure out. I don’t use this as my primary gaming TV so it’s no problem for me, but it would be nice to have the option to use it if needed.

I have a few questions for anyone else who may be a USB3HDCAP user. Bought this card over a year ago since it was reported to have excellent compatibility with the OSSC. While I haven’t had nearly the same amount of luck with this device as others, I have managed to get at least one mode working for each console I use (generally Generic 2x and 4x work, 3x is hit or miss….and I can only get optimized profiles to work for Sega Genesis).

But curiously….I’m having a lot of trouble with my PS2 connected to the OSSC via HDRetrovision cables. The USB3HDCAP doesn’t accept 480i passthrough, 480i line2x bob deinterlacing, nor line4x. It does give a signal with the line3x (laced), however it continuously cuts in and out as if it’s having trouble with jittery sync (it looks just like when I try and use optimized profiles with my non-modded SNES). Doesn’t this seem odd? Plenty of other folks have said they’ve had no issue with the PS2, and I can’t understand why a simple de-interlacing would be so problematic. Playing PS1 games on the console is perfect though, no issues.

EDIT: I must have screwed something up when making my “generic” profile. If I load an empty profile onto the OSSC the PS2 works perfectly fine in 2x, 3x, and 4x modes.

Yeah I don’t really have a good explanation to what’s going on. I also tried the game in generic 4:3 mode since that’s how I get my SNES to keep a stable sync, but still nothing.

If the picture is showing up as fullscreen on your display it’s likely that your TV/display is taking the signal and stretching it to 16:9. Make sure your TV is either set to 4:3 or for the aspect ratio to be determined by the signal given to the display.
