I was wondering if anyone has tested any of the external capture cards with “PC Free” capabilities (direct record to SD card or USB thumb drive) and if they work with the OSSC’s HDMI output?
I’ve already tried and tested the original Avermedia Live Gamer Portable, and while it will pick up the OSSC when plugged into a PC/laptop (used in line 2X and 3X modes from 240p sources) it will not record to the SD card in it’s PC free mode…it gets no signal/error msg’s.
I work at an arcade, and we are looking to direct capture old arcade games without the need to have a PC/laptop left on the floor. It is both expensive to have a PC for every game we want to record, but it’s also at risk of bring stolen. If we can build an enclosure for an OSSC, external capture device and a screen so you can see the output, I think it would work great!
Any info would be appreciated.
Good news to anyone else who has this issue – the new .82a firmware seems to have corrected this issue entirely for me!
Having the exact same issue! My SNES Jr. is RGB modded with Voultar’s board, and worked great until the latest firmware. As it says in the video description, I don’t want to revert it back to the old firmware because my Neo Geo 1 slot couldn’t sync with it under the old firmware.
I currently have no options to get sound via anything other than scart in my setup.
I apologize if this has already been asked/discussed, but I am unable to find a way to search for this…
Anyways – Does anyone here have any success with any external capture device running in “PC Free mode” (aka capture direct to SD card) capturing from the OSSC?
I have access to an Avermedia Live Gamer Portable (original one), but would like to know if LGP2 or any other options would work for this application.
Thanks in advance!
@MCLilBas – I have that splitter and used it a lot. Its works well with no lag and has the added benefit of bypassing HDCP from systems like the PS3.
Could you please let me know what settings you are using to get the C985 Live Gamer HD to pick up 4x mode?
I can get 2x and 3x to work in Xsplit, but when I switch to 4x for any 240p source, my TV handles it great with the proper 4:3 aspect ratio but the capture card stretches it out and cuts some of the picture off.
Thanks in advance!
