Based on your picture I wouldn’t call that a “huge cut off” at all, that seems quite normal for a consumer CRT. Anything within the red area is considered in danger of being cropped by a CRTs overscan.
What kind of CRT are you connecting?
Does the CRT itself have picture sizing controls?
Can you post a picture of the overscan?
Does the 1080p/60 test pattern still display ok?
Sync is indeed sent to pin 20 on the SCART end, but can be taken either from composite video or cysnc output on many consoles. A sync stripper should not be needed with the OSSC though proper attenuation is required when using CSYNC.
My guess would be the VGA switch not having enough bandwidth for the composite video signal on that particular pin as it is not designed for it, but, if your cheaper adapter works that seems to put an end to that theory.
It’s unlikely but, at this point can you find a regular SCART cable and try that with your OSSC just to make sure there isn’t a fault with the SCART input?
Hmm, how are you pulling sync from the consoles, if you’re using csync have you attenuated the output correctly? Aspect ratio and AV RGB switching would be ignored by the OSSC.
Not usually, no. Do you have a direct link to that switch? What kind of SCART to d-sub converter do you use?
So what is the entire video chain, including all cables, converters etc, from any one console to the OSSC ?
What’s the make and model of the SCART switch?
Any kind of SCART switch between your consoles and the OSSC?
Are your consoles all RGB capable and your SCART cables properly wired for RGB?
314p doubles to a troublesome 628 line 50hz image which trips up a lot of TVs and monitors, but if your other console works then it seems unlikely to be that.
On the OSSC classic, the VGA input does not have the low pass filter, so it’s not recommended for SCART sources which typically benefit from this.
First of all, if you let the console just go to the memory card screen (no disc inserted) is the image stable then?
🤣 HDMI truly is the successor to SCART isn’t it.
There shouldn’t be any damage (though Markus would be more qualified to answer that) but sync devices should only be outputting a few mA, I’m surprised there’s enough to actually power the device, that seems like a badly designed sync.
Sounds like maybe your SMS 2 isn’t RGB modded and is only outputting composite?
Can you try a screen with multiple colours on, e.g 240p test suite perhaps?

More stock is just waiting on one single part, that seems to be taking forever to arrive at the factory.
